PAT EVANS | Certified Public Accountant
Pat Evans has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Colorado Denver. He is a certified public accountant (CPA) with Big 4 audit experience. For almost two decades, Pat worked his way up the corporate ladder from staff accountant to corporate financial controller for a $2 billion public oil and gas company and chief integrator of people, processes, and systems.
Pat started his career working for a Big 4 accounting firm, Deloitte, where he was hired as an external auditor for both public and private companies in the natural resources and REIT industries. In 2009, after four years with Deloitte, he went in-house to work for a $10 billion Fortune 100 company (CenturyLink) for three years before moving into smaller, private-equity-backed start-ups (Discovery Natural Resources, Vitesse Energy). He has done Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Department of Labor (DOL) financial reporting work; built a procurement and supply chain department from scratch for an oil and gas exploration company using Six Sigma/LEAN methodology that led to millions of dollars in cost-savings; and coached hundreds of non-CPAs, CPAs, and financial leaders through financial decisions.
In 2018, Pat started his own corporate accounting consulting practice, Circle West Growth Partners, to provide factional CFO services to larger organizations. His projects included financial/tax/controls audit-ready work, improvements to financial reporting and budgeting, recruiting/hiring/training of new staff, and overall accounting and finance department leadership.
In 2019, Pat met Tom Conradt at a networking event and was immediately inspired by Boxelder’s focus on helping people. Pat’s own values of adventure, spirit, and camaraderie are easily met in a culture like Boxelder’s. The company features a team of like-minded individuals who are working hard to provide people with second chances.
Pat Evans is a fourth-generation Colorado native. He grew up in Aurora, where he swam competitively, and he spent his free time hiking, skiing, and helping to close the books at his dad’s estate planning law practice. Pat was an NCAA Division 1 swimmer for Loyola University-Maryland before doing a semester abroad in Thailand in 2001. He eventually took a break from college to work as a ranch hand in Estes Park before re-enrolling at the University of Colorado, where he played rugby and became an “Emerging Leaders” scholar.
Pat enjoys moderate-to-high adrenaline-inducing activities (mountain biking, rafting, snowboarding), quiet activities (meditation, prayer, reading, and listening to the birds), challenging trail-blazing activities (puzzles, impossible projects, and learning new things), and working on finding true connections with people in his community. Pat loves his wife of 11 years, Nicole, and their two adorable daughters, ages 7 and 5. He is a past Treasurer, Executive Board Member, and Board Member of his daughters’ school.
